MCKENZIE BRIDGE, Oregon (STPNS) -- VIDA: An 18-year old Vida-area girl was seriously injured last Saturday morning in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 126 west of Vida.

According to OSP Senior Trooper Jamin Van Meter, the wreck occurred on January 16th  at approximately 10:35 a.m. It involved a 1996 Saturn sedan driven by Jennifer Leigh Hanchett, 18, of Vida, who was turning westbound onto the highway from Goodpasture Road.

As Hanchett pulled out to make the turn her car was struck by an eastbound 1999 Ford pickup driven by Charles Jules De Sully III, 33, of Springfield. After the vehicles impacted, De Sully was able to move his pickup from the roadway.



A Lane County Deputy was in the area and arrived shortly after the crash occurred, rendering aid to Hanchett. McKenzie Fire and Rescue responded and the young woman was transported to Riverbend Hospital by ambulance. She was using safety restraints.

Police report De Sully was not injured.

The Lane County Sheriff’s Office, McKenzie River Fire & Rescue, and the Oregon Dept. of Transportation assisted OSP troopers from the Springfield Area Command office.

The highway was restricted to one lane of travel for approximately 2 hours.
