WESTBROOK, Minnesota (STPNS) --     wwg — Charger fans got excited when Jake Otto broke through the Hawk’s defense and raced 48 yards for the touchdown. The score gave the Chargers their first and only lead of the game at 6-0. But after that it was pretty much all downhill for the Chargers.

    The Hawks started their first possession at their own 39 yard line. Six plays later  the Hawks scampered into the end zone from 15 yards out. With a successful two point conversion the Hawks took over the lead 8-6.



     On the next Charger possession their drive was stopped with a Hawk interception which went for a touchdown, upping the Hawk’s lead to 14-6.

    The next Charger possession fizzled out inside their own forty where they were forced to punt. After a great punt rolling out at the Hawk’s 21 yard line the Charger defense held the Hawks to three downs and out forcing a punt.

    The Chargers took over at their own 38 yard line, but after picking up a first down the Hawks picked off another pass at their own 28 stopping the drive. The Hawks then took ten plays to get to the 1 yard line of the Chargers as the quarter ended.

    On  the first play of the second quarter the Hawks scored on a one yard plunge. With a 2 point conversion the Hawks upped their lead to 22-6.

    On the next series the Chargers turned the ball over on downs. The Hawks immediately went deep, but Charger defensive back Anthony Ross grabbed the ball for an interception. After moving the ball to the Charger 30 the Hawks recovered a fumble, then a few plays later fumbled back to the Chargers near the 15 of the Chargers. Four plays later the Chargers turned it back over at the 31 of the Chargers. This time the Hawks scored in three plays taking it in from the 2 yard line with the Hawks upping the score to 30-6. In the middle of the series, quarterback Anthony Ross left the game with a severe ankle injury.

    The Chargers, on the next possession, moved inside the Hawk’s 6 yard line, a penalty moved the ball back 10 yards. On the next play the Hawks stopped the Chargers with another interception. The half ended with no further scoring.

    In the second half the Hawks continued to add to their lead tacking on 20 more points in the third quarter and 8 more in the  final stanza. Dropping the Chargers to 0-2 in the conference.

    This week the Chargers will be at home on Thursday evening when they will take on the Fulda Raiders who are 1-1 on the season.

    Rushing: Otto had 9 carries for 61 yards and a TD; Anthony Koch had 7 carries for 22 yards.

    Punting: Otto had 4 punts for 114 yards.

    Punt returns: Koch had 1 for 14 yards.

    Kick returns: Koch had 2 for 54 yards; Andrew Quade was 2 for 24 yards; Ian Mackie had 1 for 14 yards; Kuehl had 1 for 15 yards.

    Defense: Koch had 11 tackles and a fumble recovery; AJ Quade had 10 tackles; Dawson Iverson had 9 tackles; Otto had 8 tackles; Andrew Quade and Zach Vande Kieft  had 7 tackles each; Ross had 5 tackles and an interception; Cole Olson and  Kuehl had 5 tackles.
