ROCK RAPIDS, Iowa (STPNS) --     WWG With all the hoopla of Homecoming Week the  Chargers took the field with  hopes of winning in the annual homecoming battle. But it was not to be as the Wolverines racked up 285 yards rushing and 6 touchdowns plus 2 more through the air. Wolverine quarterback was responsible for most of the carnage.

    The Wolverines cruised to a 47-0 half time score then poured salt in the wound adding  20 more points in second half.

    In the first quarter the Chargers were unable to find the goal line, but held the Wolverines to two touchdowns. One of  those came on the first play of the game when quarterback Carter Kirk raced 77 yards for the score.

    The only high lights of the first quarter for the Chargers was Sean McCroskey having two good kick returns. However the Chargers were only able to muster 1 first down on the two drives.

    In the second quarter Charger turnovers contributed to two touchdowns by the Wolverines who took little time capitalizing on the miscues. The Wolverines racked up 31 more points in the second quarter taking a comfortable 47-0 lead into  half time.

    The Chargers scored their only points in the third quarter with Shane Buchman completing a 54 yard pass to Sean McCroskey getting the score. However the Wolverines held the Chargers scoreless the rest of the game while adding 3 more touchdowns of their own.

    Passing: Shane Buchman was 4 of nine for 66 yards and one  touchdown. Tristan Joel completed 3 of 7 for 15 yards. With a total of 81 yards.

    Rushing: Matt Otto had 10 carries for 25 yards; Buchman  had 2 carries for 15 yards; and Anthony Koch had 4 for 13.     With a total of 67 yards.

    Receiving: McCroskey had 2 catches for 61 yards and a touchdown. Mitchell Jarmer had 2 catches for 9 yards.

    Punting: Christians had 4 punts for 124 yards.

    Kick returns: McCroskey had 2 returns for 40 yards;  Koch had 3 returns for 90 yards; Tristan Joel had 2 returns for  27 yards; Berg  had 2 returns for 30 yards.

    Defense: Tyler 1-1 lead the team with 14 tackles; Logan Weis had 13 tackles with 1 fumble recovery; Levi Bunting had 13 tackles and a sack; Joel had 9 tackles; Jarmer and McCroskey each had 8; Buchman and Tyson Berg each had 7; Matt Otto had 6 tackles and a fumble recovery; and Tyson Berg recorded a fumble recovery.    

    Friday the Chargers will travel to Danube to take on  Renville County West.
