WESTBROOK, Minnesota (STPNS) --     westbrook — If you have noticed a fair amount of activity near the south end of First Avenue, that would be James and Tina Hicks who recently have remodeled the building they purchased from Alan Huset at 531 First Avenue. It has been a bit of a struggle to get things ready,  but the  Hicks have opened Tina’s Thrift Store and are ready to serve the public.

The store features a variety of used items from all ages of clothing and shelves of miscellaneous items such as knick knacks, glassware, picture frames, lamps, books, and much more, all at affordable prices. the clothing is arranged by size and  type from children, women and mens items.

They have another room about 50 feet behind the finished room. They hope to have larger items such as furniture,  and other  larger household items when they get that space renovated. They hope to have that space ready to go in the next month or two. They do have several furniture pieces on hand at this time.

They will  accept consignment items or donated items as needed.

Tina has always wanted  to open a thrift store, so when this opportunity came  to them she jumped right on it.

They also plan  on eventually stocking some new items like household needs, duct tape, paint, spray paint, and other necessity household hardware items.

The couple has also been working on the Parkview Bed & Breakfast doing some light renovation and upgrades on the rooms. They are also replacing the linens, towels and washcloths. They hope to eventually replace some of the carpets in the rooms. They are almost ready to open, but are waiting for approval from the State Fire Marshal. They hope to be open for business by the middle of October.

“We are excited to meet people from the area who stop in to give us a look, Hicks says. People should visit often as they have different items coming  in all the time.
